Purpose Transformer
Where can I find a transformer to convert a 300mV signal into a 5V signal?
Using an unshielded inductor we are reading a value of about 300mV when placed near a current carrying wire running at 75KHz. We are trying to step up that voltage to about 5V so that our controller can detect when the inductor is sensing the current and when it is not. For this purpose I think a transformer will suit our needs but I can't seem to find the right key words to look for to get small compact transformer that doesn't need to operate at huge voltages.
Working at 75KHz, a regular transformer with a core would probably not work due to the hysteresis in the core. However you could use a 16 : 1 winding ratio on a small diameter plastic bobbin providing the amperage is not too high.
About 50 turns on the primary and 800 on the secondary might work for you.
I use an electric drill to wind the bobbins and get my wire from an old dismantled transformer.
