Can you be written up in NC for a register shortage?
My husband works in retail, and his job is now saying they will write them up if their register is $5.00 off, and the managers if the safe is even a penny off. Is this legal? Keep in mind they do not count the registers at the beginning of the shift, plus multiple people run the same register throughout the shift. If its illegal, like I think it is, where do I go to find the law?
If he is written up on those standards he does have recourse, with multiple people having access to the register anyone could remove money and he cannot be held liable for another persons actions,that would be equivalent to charging you with bank robbery because you use the same bank that your neighbor robs. He can contact the labor relations board if he is written up and file a complaint they will get involved and the practice will be stopped.~~
